Twister Sweater

The Twister Sweater is a handmade, one of a kind sweater with an all over 2-colored cable pattern. 

The fit is slightly cropped and boxy.

Handmade with Love:
Every Klarybarry piece is knitted by me (Klara) on a domestic knitting machine in my studio in southern Sweden. Each piece is carefully made but because it's handmade, small imperfections may occur.

100% Norwegian wool

• Neck to wrist: 73 cm

The Story

This Twister sweater was knitted on a domestic knitting machine during an artist-in-residence I was part of during the summer of 2024. The residency lasted for 5 days (around 25 h) which was just enough time to finish the sweater (except for weaving in all the ends).

My goal with the residency was to show the process of making a garment. In today's fast fashion world we have become distanced to the production of our clothes and forget that our garments are made by people, not machines (even if it's knitted on a domestic knitting machine it's still hand made. All cables (where the stitches twist around each other) has to be moved manually. The only thing the machine does is knit the right color at the right place (which I have programmed) and knit the stitches when I pull the carriage.

By bringing the production closer, making it slower and showing the process, hopefully gives people a different perspective on their clothes. With a closer connection to our garments, we want to take care of them better and keep them for longer.
